For Karen Saunders, the dream of opening her own business became a reality in September 2008 with the opening of the "Turquoise Door" in "The Village" at Lake Las Vegas. "I knew when I made the decision to open "Turquoise Door" that "The Village" was the ideal location. Besides being my home, Lake Las Vegas provides the perfect backdrop. The energy and beautiful atmosphere of "The Village" left no question about where I wanted my store to be."
"Whether you're looking for the perfect gift for that someone special or just the right accessory to compliment your own wardrobe or home, you are sure to find it at the "Turquoise Door". "You will find me at the store every day, as I strive to create a positive shopping experience for you, and to give you unparalleled, personalized customer service. I'm looking forward to meeting you."
Come--let Karen greet you with her warm smile, cheerful "hello", the scent of fresh flowers, chocolates and the soothing sounds of Native American flute music.
grew up in Western New York in a small community called Mt. Morris. She and her husband, Don, were high school sweethearts and have been married for 35 years. Her husband's career advancements allowed them to live in many areas of the country including: Western New York, California, Washington State, Ohio and Olney, Maryland where they spent 17 years raising their daughter and son. After their children were grown, educated and on their own, Karen and Don relocated to Dana Point, California and then to Lake Las Vegas in Henderson, Nevada, where they now reside.
At an early age, Karen's mother instilled in her a love and passion for Native American jewelry and art. That passion grew over the years as did a dream of owning her own business. In 2008, it was time to fulfill her dream.......a store encompassing her love of Native American jewelry. Welcome to the "Turquoise Door".
When Karen and her husband moved to Lake Las Vegas in 2006, she went to work as an Executive Assistant for The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Las Vegas. While at the Ritz-Carlton, she honed her people skills while promoting their exceptional customer service.......this experience continues to serve her well today.
At the Turquoise Door, Karen has created a very unique atmosphere that will make her clients not only "feel special" but will bring them back again and again.
